My subcommittee. the Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest. held a hearing on January 20 of this year entitledI thought it was a pretty good title-"Why is the biometric exit tracking system still not in place?" That is a pretty good question. Well. during the hearing. we got promises from government officials. but there was no commitment that they would actually complete the system. They said: Oh. we are doing pilot projects.
