And from the moment that he sailed into New York Harbor as a child and glimpsed the Statue of Liberty. his love of America was unsurpassed. As an immigrant. TED uniquely understood the great privilege and enormous opportunity that is afforded to each American citizen. That is why he devoted his entire life to protecting the principles for which this Nation stands. fighting zealously to make certain that the ideas that built this Nation would never be forgotten. and to enst re that all Americans would have the same opportunity that he did to build a better life in a country that respects individual rights.
