Mr. Speaker. we may have difficulty remembering other dates and anniversaries but all immigrants to this great country recall unfailingly the date of our arrival here. I do so today with great pride and gratitude. Mr. Speaker. 54 years ago today. on March 12. 1938. I arrived in the United States aboard the S.S. President Warren 0. Harding with my mother. of blessed memory. and my sister. Claire. The ship berthed at the Chelsea piers in New York harbor. where we were met by Samuel Weiss. my new stepfathertobe. and other members of our new family. We were driven to their home in South Amboy.
