Two weeks ago. the official results of the general. multiparty elections confirmed the defeat of Bulgarias Communist influence as the antiCommunist Union of Democratic Forces Party secured the majority of seats in the national parliament. Emigration remains unrestricted. The Turkish minorities have recently won freely elected seats in the parliament and are no longer victims of repression. These facts are a clear indication of the commitment of the Bulgarian people to support the transformation to a market economy.
