Paul and Stone Ridge Country Day School in Washington. She graduated from Radcliffe College of Harvard University and New York University Law School. In a small Washingtonbased private practice. she carried on her familys and her own tradition of service by representing lowincome clients. Ms. McCarthy was working as a public defender in a federally funded program in Washington when she was asked to teach at Yale University. During her decade of service. she introduced courses on the disabled and on immigration law. Her students also benefited from her supervision of their trial work. Mary Abigail McCarthy did her generation of Minnesotans and Americans proud.
