Since the bill I am introducing today is identical to the legislation that was reported by the subcommittee last year. I expect the committee to consider the bill much more expeditiously. Representative MOAKLEY is introducing similar legislation today in the House. He will introduce a bill identical to that which was passed by the House as part of the Simpson/Rodino Immigration Reform and Control Act last year. but was subsequently dropped by the conference committee. The Moakley bill will include Nicaraguans in the suspension of deportations. My bill will be identical to the one reported by the Senates Immigration Subcommittee last year. Mr. President. this legislation is necessary and overdue.
