Mr. President. this morning I personally protested to the Yugoslavian Ambassador to the United States the mistreatment of an American citizen by his Government. and the Ambassadors failure to respond to urgent appeals relative to this matter. Mr. Pjeter Ivezaj is a 30yearold naturalized United States citizen who emigrated to this country from Yugoslavia in 1972 and now lives in Sterling Heights. MI. On July 9 he returned to visit his uncle and grandmother in Titograd. Yugoslavia. and on August 19 was arrested and imprisoned. His wife. Juliana. did not know what he was charged with and she was not allowed to visit him.
