Session #99 · 1985–87

Speech #990226765

Inna is seriously ill with cancer. She urgently requires medical treatment only available in the West. The Soviets could offer a wonderful humanitarian gester by allowing her an exit visa so she may obtain treatment. yet they have refused her pleas. In addition. the Soviets have further aggravated the Meimans situation by disconnecting their telephone. confiscating their mail. and ransacking their apartment. The Meimans are a good and caring couple who have suffered needlessly because they have expressed their desire to leave the Soviet Union. The Soviets have denied Naum and Irma their basic human rights for far too long. I strongly urge the Soviet authorities to allow Naum and Inna the right to emigrate to Israel..
