It is the 15 million members of the AFLCIO who are represented in the back streets of Bombay and Calcutta and New Delhi by the representatives of the AsianAmerican Free Labor Institute. I have had the opportunity to meet them when I was American Ambassador to that country. It is 50 million American Catholics who give aid to the refugees from South Vietnam through the Catholic Relief Service. It is Lutherans the world over who are represented in Africa by the men and women of the Lutheran World Relief Service. who are helping people in that Continent. Of all these institutions. none is older. none more experiencedand none more supportive of the enterprise proposed in the legislation before usthan the American labor movement.
