We have been led to believe that the reason for the large deficits which this Government presently incurs isand I think it was put this waybecause of the tax cuts for the rich and the massive buildup in defense. I would assumeand I must be very careful lest some Member takes down my wordsthat the answer to that is more taxes on the rich and the working people and less defense. Nothing was added to the deficit when for the Lone Star State of Texas last week we added several millions of dollars to supplement the education of illegal aliens in this country. that had nothing to do with the deficit. though several hundreds of millions of dollars were spent. Money we do not have. Nothing adds to the deficit when appropriation bill after appropriation bill is forced down our throats. hundreds of millions of dollars over the budget.
