Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970044893

I am saddened to note that Dr. Brailovsky was convicted of "fabrications that defamed the Soviet State and social system" and sentenced to 5 years in exile. I know that Viktor Brailovsky is not deserving of such inhumane treatment and am convinced that his only crime revolved around his role as editor of the unofficial journal Jews in the U.S.S.R. and as a leading Jewish emigration activist. While I realize that the Soviets detest interference in what they consider their own internal affairs. they must be made to realize that certain truths transcend territorial boundaries and demands an international outcry. I know that I will not ease in my efforts to ease the plight of those. like Dr.
