Mr. Speaker. I am pleased to speak today in favor of Congresswoman HECKLERS House Concurrent Resolution 329. This legislation. among its goals. urges continued support for humanitarian assistance for the people of Kampuchea and reiterates Congress earlier call for the convening of an international conference on Kampuchea to end the fighting and aid the refugees. I am stunned and gravely concerned about the tragedy which has befallen the Kampuchean people. Since 1971. 4 million Kampucheans have died as a result of the violence in Indochinahalf of that nations population. Those Kampucheans still alive are suffering from famine. war. disease. and malnutrition.
