Session #93 · 1973–75

Speech #930329824

I met with a group of Soviet Jewsincluding Mr. Polsky. I was impressed with their courage and dedicationand with their gentleness. During the same trip. I called upon the Soviet leaders to take a "magnanimous action" on the question of emigrationan action to which the American people could respond. The Polsky case is an area in which such an action would symbolize the possibilities for resolving the current impasse in trade relations and emigration policies. On this subject. a group of Soviet Jews have cabled the President and the Congress. asking our assistance. I ask unanimous consent that the cable be printed in the RECORD.
