It has been calculated that the intensification of the air war in Cambodia since midFebruary has already added over $240 million to the cost of the war and that each days additional bombing adds another $4 million to that total. The peoples representatives in Congress should be given an opportunity to indicate whether they wish to see their tax dollars wasted in this manner. Reports from Cambodia indicate that many civilians have been killed by our bombing and that thousands more have become refugees in an effort to escape our attacks. Given a choice. how many Americans would wish to see this continue? Instead of seeking implied. backdoor approval for continuing the war by means of its pending request for authority to transfer funds within the Department of Defense budget. the administration should put the question of our involvement in Cambodia to the Congress and the American people honest and fairly.
