The National Parks Advisory Board noted thatThaddeus Kosciuszko was a figure of such significance in American history as to merit appropriate memorialization. I firmly believe that the establishment of this Kosciuszko Home National Historic Site will finally provide a fitting tribute to a great soldier and patriot. Since Jamestown. over 360 years ago. Polish immigrants have toiled to build this country. and their contributions to all walks of American life have enriched and strengthened our heritage. This Historic Site will honor not only Kosciuszko. but it will also serve as a reminder of the contributions of the sons and daughters of Poland to the achievements of this Nation. This recognition is longawaited and welldeserved.
