Speech #920320759

Indeed. like his modernday counterpart. astronaut Neil Armstrong. Columbus too could have said on that October day so long ago that. "This is one small step for a man and one giant leap for mankind." We havein so many wayscome a long way since Columbus discovery. How truly stupendous. for example. has been the floodin sheer numbersof the countless people from all of the worlds countries that have come to America since that first Italian immigrant reached our shores. How tremendous. too. has been the expansion of first our agricultural and natural resources and then our industry and technology that have also occurred. And with the intricate and delicately balanced Government that we have since devised to help harness and channel all of these resources. the total accomplishment in prosperity and influence that have since then accrued to us would. no doubt. truly astound our discoverer if he were alive today.
