While I learned of his passing too late to pay my respects at the funeral home. I was able to attend the requiem mass at St. Agnes Church in Arlington a week ago last Tuesday morning. After practicing law in the Washington area for several years with his father. Mr. Mackey entered the Government. joining the General Accounting Office in 1919. In 1930 he went to the Immigration and Naturalization Service and President Truman appointed him to head that agency in 1951. In 1954 Argyle retired. ending a long and productive career of public service. In my dealings with him I found him always to be a kind. competent. and gracious man.
