Child labor and immigration were among the major problems solved in the beginnings of the Labor Department. Social security. fair labor standards. minimum wage and hour specifications. unemployment insurancethese are only some of the benefits which have given Americans a better way of life. Through two World Wars. the Department of Labor helped marshal a labor force ready to meet the production needs of the Nation.
