At that time it was determined that approximately 5.000 Philippine Scouts were naturalized in 1945. based on their United States military service. It is also known that approximately 300 SpanishAmerican War veterans and a considerable number of World War I and World War II veterans are residing in the Philippines who are United States citizens by birth. For Veterans Administration purposes. the type of military service rendered is of far greater significance than citizenship.
