That is correct. We have tried to deal in the short bill with the areas of the present immigration law which seemed to be most open to criticism. and with reference to which group after group has testified before the Committee on the Judiciary. If the chairman of the committee would consult the hearings. which he had brought to the floor and which he used as a prop and as a part of the evidence a few days ago. he would find in the hearings testimony which brought forth the introduction of the short bill. I may say to the Senator from Illinois that the Justice Department was not the only department which wanted relief from the Administrative Procedure Act.
