Under that Constitution. newcomers to the nation were at liberty to exercise their industry and their talents just as they are in our own beloved land. History records- that Polish patriots were in the forefront of Americas battle for liberty. and they fought as well under the flag of France for the freedom of the common people of that nation. They helped to turn back the Asiatic legions when they tried to overthrow the whole of Europe and Christianity. The pages of history glow with the stories of gallantry and the sacrifices made by the Polish people in.the cause of liberty. For that reason. it becomes all the more tragic that Poland should today. to a very great extent. be under the iron heel of tyranny. through the denial of free elections.
