I think that is undoubtedly true. I do not think we should feel shame at our record in the Philippines. It was demonstrated in this war that the Filipinos trust us. but an entirely different situation prevailed in some of the Asiatic regions which were owned by some of our allies. Mr. Chairman. there seems to be considerable doubt expressed by various Members talking on this bill as to whether it is important to repeal these laws as a gesture of friendship for the Chinese. I think the best way we can determine that is to point out what the Chinese themselves say about it.
