Session #77 · 1941–43

Speech #770122754

Mr. Speaker. I move to strike out the last word. Mr. Speaker. this bill was very carefully considered by a subcommittee of five of the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization. a subcommittee of which I was a member. The committee sat morning after morning. We met with Army and Navy authorities and with officials of the Department of Justice. Every person who knows much about the processes that were followed in drafting this legislation knows that the bill has received careful consideration. The authorities of the War Department feel that this bill is very much needed at this time. It is a bill that the authorities of the Navy Department approve and want.
