Session #77 · 1941–43

Speech #770122761

Mr. Speaker. I am going to very brief. The gentleman from Mississippi speaks about deporting these Americanborn Japanese. These people are Americanborn. they cannot be deportedAmericanborn Japanese. Americanborn Italians. Americanborn Mexicans. or Americanborn offspring of any nationalswhether w- like it or whether we do not. This is their country and this country recognizes that situation of dual nationality. This bill requires them to make an election. and especially where they join the armed forces of the United States they must take this oath of allegiance to the United States. and I see no reason at this particular time why they should not.
