Speech #760055060

I have already briefly touched upon that point. and at this late hour I shall not tire the Senate by elaborating the reasons which I have advanced as to why there should be a twoprice system for cotton. However. I should like to point out that if there is any group in the Nation. other than the cotton farmers. which is expected to sell in a free and competitive market. in competition with the coolie labor of China. the peon labor of Mexico. and the low standard of living of the peon cotton producers in South America. and buy in a protected market. I have yet to hear of it. We have a tariff on wheat of 42 cents a bushel.
