I think the Senator is not well advised as to that. for the reason that. even though the immigration bill becomes a law. under its operation questions will arise from time to time to which it will be absolutely essential for the Immigration Committee to consider. and it Is absolutely necessary for the secretary of that committee to keep in touch with the different suggested amendments and other matters that will come to our attention as the result of the administration of the law. I take It that It is one of the most important committees of this body. and its work is continuous and will not end with the passage of the immigration bill. We have matters pending before us now touching the administration of the immigration laws. and we will have before us from time to time other questions that will have to be looked into and considered if we are to keep pace with the development of this important question. I do not know of a committee whose activities should be more carefully guarded than those of the Committee on Immigration.
