Take a case such us the gentleman has cited. Is it not ahost certain that the judge would recommend that the ia be not deported. and in that case lie would not be deported ? 111r. SABATH. I agree with my colleague that in our State and iii our city. where the judges are familiar with the conditions under which these illlmiigrilts live. a judge would perhaps recommend] that the man be not deported . but there are certain parts of our country where there are judges who are prejudiced against imimiigrants. who will listen to no reason or appeal. and who will be only too pleased to order deportation whenever the opportunity presents itself. For that reason I believe that this amendment should be adopted and the time limit shortened.
