Speech #630269532

Mr. RoBnir L. OwEN. took the a ppeal in the Jack Amos case. and there it was that the Supreme Court deciled that under the peculiar wording of thait act It had jurisdiction. that no appeal lay to it. that the decision of Judge Clayton was final. and settled the question. on the ground that Congress bad vested that authority in the Federal court. justas I explained the other day that when Congress vests a certain authority In the Bureau of hmigration or the Immigration -Commissioner to deol with the matter or immigration. or whea it vests a certain authority in the Postmaster General to stop the delivery of frandlent maill. for example. the courts refuse to consider the matter any further because the legislative branch seems to have determined that the consideration should stop there. All that we are asking Is just what I have asked before. Reference has been made to a compromise.
