But for the information of the gentleman from Pennsylvania I will state that the Items regarding Elis Island. all of them. are within the authority of the committee on Iis hill. The aopropriation for the immigration station at Philadelphia is subject to a point of order. It is in excess of the limit of cost specifically fixed for this station. but the comnmittee recoinmended the appropriation in order to comllete the station. because upon investigation it believed that this was an appropriation that should be made. and it did it. regardless of whether the gentleman from Pennsylvania would be peased or dislpleased. It did not let any desire either to favor him or to antagonize him interfere with it in the discharge of its duty.
