I have investigated the matter a little within the past few days. after talking with the Senator who is now on the floor. and I get information from the Commissioner of Immigration. Mr. Powderly. saying he knows nothing whatever of any such provision or restrictions in foreign countries. I also have a letter from the Secretary of State. addressed to me a day or two ago. in which he uses these words: An examination of the Departments flies fails to disclose any objection so far as Germany is concernedI named Germany in particularnor have I been able to discover that any other foreign government has made such objection.
