I call the attention of the Senator from Texas to the fact that doubtless no one is disposed to speak upon the joint resolution proposing the election of United States Senators by the people. I o not understand from the Senator from Oregon that such is the case. and necessarily. therefore. as the Senate will not be in a position to vote upon the joint resolution today. it must go over to another day. I hope the Senator from Oregon will not object to its going over another day. and then we * can go on with the immigration bill.
