That is the first amendmentin oler. . -r. LODGE. The amendment .of the Senator from illinois -seems to me a very objectionable -one indeed. It -appears to -me to go far -toward idestroying -the effect of the bill. A large pro.portion of the immigrants who come here are young men between the ages of 18 and 21. A large portion of the immigrants who come into the country and stay through the summer and go back to their native country at the end are of that age. I think it would be a great injury to the bill to have thatlimitation changed.
