Among many of my earliest and most earnest friends in Ildiana have been inen of foreign birth. and they are today. and I think I iny say to my friend. without ofIense. that I have represenlted them as truly and I am as good a friend to them today as himself. I spoke of Germany as "l his cosuntry." because he caine from Germany. I did not speak of it or intend to moan that it was his country now. He is an American by adoption. an American by naturalization. But I was referring to the Country from which he came. and of which he spoke repeatedly. and of which lie often speaks to us. He had just come from that country. and le spoke of it repeatedly.
