Those who think the nature of America is "I am up. lets pull up the ladder." have lost sight of why we are truly unique in this worlds history. why many of the things that divide other countries do not divide America. because we have said to people: You are welcome in this country as long as you are toleranttolerant of people of different colored skin. different ethnic background. different accents. different religions. These are what make us different. But in that difference is our strength. Immigration is the reason America is as great as it is today. and the detractors and critics have forgotten that. I listened to Senator REID. Senator FEINSTEIN. and so many others as they talked about this bill.
