Session #110 · 2007–09

Speech #1100057084

When I listen to Senator SALAZAR speak on these issues. I listen very carefully because I know his voice is so important in this debate. I listen to Senator BOB MENENDEZ from New Jersey. a relative newcomer to the Senate as well. but the man has made a real mark as a child of immigrants to this country. Senator MARTINEZ. who spoke a moment ago. from the Republican side of the aisle. is an immigrant to this country from Cuba. America is a better place because of these three people and their families. We know that. Immigration is why we are such a powerful and great Nation. Our diversity is our strength. Those who cannot understand that do not understand this country.
