But that is not the case for litigants. Ask any litigant whose case is waiting for a hearing on appeal. They take being sued personally and would tell you that their lives are on hold. They may fear they will lose their business. or their job. or their livelihood. It really does not matter whether the case involves business litigation. an immigration appeal. or a criminal matter. If you talk to the parties to a case. they will tell you stories of the economic. social. and psychological toll extended litigation has on them and their families. That is why I am concerned about delays in the process.
