Even though it is entirely legal and entirely effective. we make no reference to that. but we do talk about the PATRIOT Act because that was a response of Congress. Now. history may judge that we did the wrong thing. I am absolutely convinced we did the right thing in passing the PATRIOT Act. and I think we owe it to the American people to let them know what we did. Also. maritime security. intelligence reform. port security. immigration reform. all of these are tied to the issue of intermational terrorism. This is the way Congress responded. and I think it is not enough just to say it was a tragedy that happened on September 11. Let us talk about what we did.
