On my committee. we reached out to Democratic members of our committee trying to put together a resolution. and the fact is the gentleman from Massachusetts. who is a good friend of mine. he acts as if this resolution this year is so markedly different than what was passed in previous years. Well. if you go back to 2004. the resolution referred to introduced by Mr. HYDE and Mr. LANTOS. H. Res. 757. it goes through a long listing of what has been done since September 11. 2001. It refers to the war in Iraq as being part of the war against terrorism. It refers to port security and border security. to the Terrorism Threat Immigration Center. It talks about taking away the financial assets of terrorists. It goes on and on. listing a number of issues which apparently today would be considered extremely controversial.
