But what happened in the United States Senate yesterday was Senator INHOFEs bringing an amendment to the immigration bill that was before the Senate yesterday and remains before the Senate today and presumably for several more days before such time that it might be ready for final passage. and he was able to successfully introduce his amendment that would establish English as the official language of the United States and bring it to a vote on the floor of the United States Senate. Now. we all think in this House that we are the quick reaction group. that we are the ones that are the most in touch with the feel and the mood of the American people. That is how our Founding Fathers envisioned it.
