We are telling all of those people that are sitting in files in our offices back in our districts that they do not have to obey the law. that they have been waiting legally in line for years to come in. but we are going to reward those who break the law. Mr. Speaker. I also must point out that there are costs involved in this issue. Many of us. including New Jersey. I might say. are very concerned about how this benefit system has been a magnet for many illegal immigrants. In New Jersey alone we spend $146 million a year to educate children of illegal aliens. The costs go up from there. So we are not only talking about the law. we are also talking about taxpayer costs here.
