It ultimately will be a 20percent cut in food stamps. and about 70 percent of the recipients are children. Almost all of them are in working families. usually families with incomes under $7.000 a year. This directly affects the quality of their health care. I did not see any restoration of any funding for the major child nutrition program in the United States of America. Mr. President. my colleagues say we did better for legal immigrants. We restored some of the supplemental security income for those immigrants that have been in this country. but. Mr. President. we eliminated all of the food nutrition assistance.
