Let me share with the Members two of the more egregious examples. One is the alterations to the Federal Labor Standards Act that have been discussed. that have the effect of reducing people who are moving from welfare into work to secondclass citizens in terms of some of the protections we otherwise afford to employees. The second provision. which was specifically agreed not to be included in the budget agreement. was to treat legal immigrants differently with respect to eligibility for disability benefits. These are two provisions that must be fixed in the conference committee in order for this budget agreement. in order for the Budget Reconciliation Act. to pass. I will vote for it today. but let us not repeat the same mistakes we made on flood relief.
