I worked to Include language In this bill that would make the treatment of Hmong veterans commensurate with that of other afins who served In United States regular military forces. Wille this provision was not Included. I am encouraged that this sense of Congress has bipartisan support and expresses a shared intent to amend this matter and am hopeful that this Issue will be resolved In the near future to avert the August 1997 deadline. The toss of benefits to these legal Immigrants that cant pass an English language lest Is unfair and works a special hardship on the Hmong. refu. gees and asyleas nationally.
