I am proud to join my colleagues loday in commemorating the 82nd anniversary of the Armenian genocids. Eighty.two years ago. the rulers of the Ottoman Empire made a decision to attempt to etiminate the Armenian people living under their nle. Between 1915 and 1923. nearly 1.5 million Armenian people died and another 500.000 were deported. The purpose of this special order is realty a dual one. and I thark the gentlemen from New Jersey and Illinois for organizing it. First end foremost. it is to show respect and remembrance to those Armenian people and their familles who suffered during those 8 years at the beginning of this century.
