Session #104 · 1995–97

Speech #1040255021

And the conference was a bipartisan conference inasmuch as we had very strong disagreements. but the issues were resolved at least in a civil manner. I think it is a successful conference because I think we emphasize how important it is for people to have jobs. We are obsessed with the problems we get from immigrants. from unwanted children. from drugs. from crime and from violence. Yet education. job training and the opportunity to have hope for the future seems to have in great measure reduced these problems. The minimum wage just makes a lot of sense. and I am glad the American people just did not say no but insisted that at least we move this far forward.
