The minute someone comes to the floor of the Senate and begins talking about trade and talking about trade deficits. two things happen: One. people start to yawn. They say. "Well. this is so boring. It is uninteresting." They do not want to talk about it. Or. two. they immediately rise on their haunches. and say. "Well. what you are is someone who wants to close Americas borders. you are some kind of a isolationist. a xenophobic stooge who doesnt understand the complexities of international trade." I do not want to close Americas borders. I want more tradenot less trade. I want expanded opportunity for American products and workers.
