Of approximately 15.000 people dead from the conflict. half of them have been killed in just the last 2 years. 3 million people have been internally displaced in Turkey as villages have been forcibly evacuated or destroyed. France Liberte Foundation puts the number of forcibly evacuated Kurdish villages at 2.500 villages. The former minister of human rights referred to the village evacuations in one province as state terrorism. Turkey has been widely criticized for its treatment of these 3 million refugees. Government forces continue to use excessive force against civilian noncombatants. They continued to use U.S. origin military equipment and actions during which human rights violations have taken place in direct violation of U.S. law.
