First. it will take genuine support for the IsraeliPalestinian pact from neighbor states and the other Arab States. The majority of Arab League states appear to support the deal. I am pleased that King Hussein backs the agreement and has committed Jordan to play an active role in working out critical issues. in particular the fate of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees. I am also encouraged by news reports that the gulf states have endorsed the agreement and hope that they will lend their financial support for the proposed emergency fund to help establish selfrule. While Lebanons Prime Minister has criticized some aspects of the pact. he has clearly stated that his government will not obstruct the agreement.
