Session #103 · 1993–95

Speech #1030066231

Mr. Chairman. I move to strike the requisite number of words. Mr. Chairman. I rise in strong opposition to this amendment for three reasons. First of all. this is the wrong bill on which to address immigration poltoy. President Clinton has just unveiled a policy yesterday to begin to address. I think. what many Democrats and Republicans would agree on. to come up with a more comprehensive. uptodate. modern policy that reflects both our .concerns for people coming across the borders in illegal ways. but also. with the threat of terrorism. That is something that. hopefully. we can work together on. and the President is working with the Attorney General to address many of these complicated questions.
