Speaker. I am in shock. President Clinton and the Democrats in Congress want to provide $300 million so illegal aliens can have health care at taxpayer expense. At a time when not all Americans have health insurance. when our Federal debt and deficit are at record highs. and when this administration is about to pass the largest tax increase in the history of the world. how can the President even consider spending one dime for health care for illegal aliens? I can tell you that my constituents in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties in California do not want to pay the medical bills for people who sneak into this country. First. they want American citizens to have access to quality. affordable health care. I am still outraged to know that illegal aliens already receive some Federal medical assistance free of charge. But to add insult to injury. the President wants to make the Federal Government foot the whole bill. This makes no sense at all.
